Home At Last Sanctuary has taken in Saphyri  and offered 3 months sanctuary while her mom of 10 years finds a place to lived together.



Saphyri is a beautiful 10 year old, blue female Chow who we are looking for a temporary foster home for, or a possible new permanent home. Saphyri’s mom lost her home to foreclosure, when her position was eliminated after 12 years.  Saphyri stayed with friends for a short period but that did not work out.  Saphyri has been the resident at a dog and cat boarding/daycare facility in Millersville, MD for nearly four months.  The owner is sleeping on a sofa and no longer able to cover the cost of kenneling and unable to pay current balance due, the kennel requires Saphyri out.



As typical of the Chow Chow breed her personality would be Serious-minded, dignified, bright, and aloof, her energy level would be Not Very Active; Not particularly busy dogs, a couple of good walks a day will do; so far as with Children would do Better with NO or Older Children, when it comes to other dogs; Generally Not Recommended (would do best with older less active dogs.); Level of Shedding, Seasonal LOTS; grooming, Weekly; trainability, Independent; barking level, Quiet

Some are foster dogs placed in our care by different rescue groups.  Each group has a different process for placing animals and charge different adoption fees.

We primarily place dogs in the Northern Virginia, Maryland, or DC Area we concentrate our adoptions in these areas. With our limited resources, applications outside of our immediate service area will be considered on a case by case basis as resources allow.
